Karen Smith and Gary Borchard | Owners
Karen and Gary have been the owners of Offshore Sailing since January 2016. They joined thier enthusiasm and passion with the already motivated and highly trained team with many years of experience in this industry. Running a sailing school is something new to them after a lifetime in the corporate world. However, their wealth of experience in business will be of great value exploring new ventures and new opportunities in the sailing community.
Having owned and sailed various monohulls and Hobie Cats since their teens and later power boats in South African dams and harbours, they have both learned to respect the water and the need for proper training. Offshore Sailing ranks as one of the premier sailing schools in South Africa and they are determined to continue this legacy. Sometimes dreams do come true…
